Vergelegen wine estate’s inaugural photography competition attracted over 500 entries, and the good news is that the winning images are now on display in the library in the historic precinct.

The photographs are diverse and spotlight the many features of this spectacularly beautiful property, which was declared a provincial heritage site four years ago.

Some exhibition highlights include:

  • Camera class winner: A  blue crane bird sculpture in the East Garden, by Mike Hodgson.
  • Smartphone class first place: A sunflower field against a  mountain backdrop, by Navashni Knowlden.
  • Junior class winner: Vergelegen‘s historic Octagonal Garden, by Morgan Eaton.
  • People’s choice award: Vergelegen visitors with wine, by Thomas Moss,

“We are delighted at the response to this competition, and extremely grateful to our partner and sponsor Orms photographic store,” said Vergelegen MD Wayne Coetzer. “Orms took part in a rigorous judging process and also delivered first class prints.

“It has been fascinating to see the estate through the fresh perspective of these amateur and professional photographers. They succeeded in capturing the beauty and varied attractions of this wonderful property.”

Vergelegen is open to the public daily, hours 08h30-17h00 (last entry at 16h00). The exhibition will run until end of June. For more info on Orms, please visit www.ormsdirect.co.za.
