Vergelegen’s philosophy for the flagship range is manifested in the holistic pursuit of wines that are an expression of terroir. Following two decades of vineyard development and viticulture refinements, the team have been able to identify the individual vineyards and varietals that best express this great estate. The Vergelegen Flagship range comprises the V, G.V.B Red and G.V.B White – Grown, Vinified and Bottled at Vergelegen.

Vineyard Range
In many ways the development of a single block of vines is very similar to that of a developing child – each one has unique characteristics and each needs to be nurtured in a manner that allows its full potential to develop. Over the years we have learned that “forcing” vineyards into a specific production path frequently backfires and these three wines, The First Thought, Last Word and Mistake Merlot, are prime examples of how, with gentle nurturing and support, vineyards are capable of expressing their site-specific personalities in a bottle.

The Vergelegen MMV is a Blanc de Blanc (100% Chardonnay). This classical wine takes its name from the year in which Vergelegen first developed the concept of traditional bottle fermented sparkling wine – 2005.
