We’re excited to announce the return of our much-loved Vergelegen Trail – a guided hiking experience that invites you to explore the hidden treasures of our estate like never before. After a fantastic season last year we’re back with new summer dates to kick off the warmer months.

Each hike is a 13km guided journey through Vergelegen’s most scenic and historically rich areas. Led by one of our expert team of guides, guests will uncover the estate’s 300-year-old heritage, encounter diverse flora and fauna, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Helderberg Mountains.
What to Expect on the Trail
This immersive experience includes exclusive access to areas not usually open to the public, such as:
- The Manor House and Gardens – Begin your journey in the heart of Vergelegen’s historic precinct.
- The Lourens River and Orchards – Meander alongside the river and through lush orchards.
- Nguni Cattle Grazing Areas – Spot our resident Nguni cattle and antelope species.
- Renosterveld & Alien Plant Recovery Zones – Learn about our conservation efforts and see nature’s resilience firsthand.
- Fynbos & Wetlands – Discover the rich biodiversity of the Cape’s fynbos biome.
- The Game Camp – A chance to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.
- The Vineyards – End your hike with a scenic ascent and a drive past the cellar and vineyards.
