EXPERIENCE

Join us for a new way to experience our rich heritage and award-winning wines – a guided walk through the historic core of Vergelegen every Friday afternoon, with curated wine tastings that reflect the estate’s 325-year-old history at each stop.

Guided by a knowledgeable Vergelegen guide, guests will stroll through significant historical points at Vergelegen whilst tasting selected wines to match that specific area. The stroll concludes at the tasting room where guests will enjoy a creamy burrata bowl and a glass of Chardonnay. It’s a perfect way to end the week!

Tour Highlights

Led by our insightful and passionate guide, the highlights will include:

  • Tasting a wine in the historical library surrounded by 4500 books
  • A visit to the rose garden
  • A walk through the 300-year-old Cape Dutch Homestead, refurbished to reflect the layered historicism and a tasting under the shade of the camphor trees
  • Ending at our Heritage vineyard block where we have planted Muscat de Fontignan vines. Among them is a remarkable Gross Chenin Blanc vine, grafted from South Africa’s oldest living grapevine, planted over 250 years ago in Cape Town’s Heritage Square
